The Marine Corps War Memorial features a statue depicting one of the most memorable incidents from World War II: when a small group of soldiers raised an American flag on the peak of Iwo Jima's Mount Suribachi to conclude America's capture of it. The memorial lies within the Iwo Jima Memorial outside Arlington, near Rosslyn, Virginia. An actual, cloth American flag flies there 24 hours a day.
